Privacy policy
This policy explains what personal data GlobeQuizz (globequizz.com) collects, why, and what you can do about it. We collect as little as we can: you can play without an account, and we never sell your data.
Who is responsible
GlobeQuizz is run by Yassine, an individual based in Doha, Qatar, who is the controller of your personal data. Contact: hello@globequizz.com.
Playing as a guest
Without an account we do not ask who you are. To count your free games, remember your personal bests and keep your Daily Challenge attempt, the site saves a few values in your browser's local storage. They stay on your device and are not sent to us:
- gq:guest:games: today's date and the number of games started (for the limit of 3 a day).
- gq:guest:bests: your best score for each mode, region and difficulty.
- gq:daily: followed by the date: today's Daily Challenge answers, so a reload does not give a second attempt. Older days are removed.
- gq:sound: whether game sounds are on.
- gq:merged: followed by an account ID: set once your guest bests have been added to your account on this browser.
You can delete them at any time by clearing the site's data in your browser. Like every website, our servers also receive technical information with each request (IP address, browser, the page asked for), which is used to keep the site running and secure.
If you create an account
To run your account we process:
- your email address and, if you sign in with Google, the basic profile Google shares (name and email). Google never shares your password with us;
- your display name (optional), your interface language, and when you confirmed you are at least 13 and accepted the terms;
- your games: mode, region, difficulty, the answers you gave and how long each took, the score, start and finish times, and the local date and time zone used for your daily limit;
- your XP, level, day streak and personal bests;
- your plan (free or Premium) and, if you subscribe, the subscription status sent to us by Paddle.
We use this to run your account, apply the daily limits, grade games fairly (including detecting automated play) and show your progress. The legal bases are the performance of our agreement with you (the terms) and our legitimate interest in a fair and secure game.
Payments
Premium is sold by Paddle.com, our reseller and merchant of record. Paddle collects your payment details, billing address and tax information directly and processes them under its own privacy policy. We receive only what we need to switch Premium on: a subscription ID, its status, the plan and the renewal date, linked to your account. We never see your full card number. See Paddle's legal pages.
Advertising and statistics
The site shows ads served by Google AdSense and measures its audience with Google Analytics. These services may use cookies and similar technologies to show ads, limit how often you see the same one, measure results and count visits. Analytics records the pages you view, your device and browser type, your approximate country and game events (game started or finished, sign-in), never your name or email address. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland they are used only after you agree in a consent message from a Google-certified consent platform, and you can change your choice at any time with the Privacy settings link at the bottom of every page.
Google uses this data under its own policies. Read how Google uses information from sites that use its services, manage personalised ads in Google's ad settings, or opt out of Analytics with Google's browser add-on. Details are in our cookie policy.
Who processes data for us
We rely on a small number of providers, each bound by its own terms and data protection commitments:
- Supabase: database and sign-in (accounts, games, progress). Privacy policy.
- Google: sign-in with Google, hosting on Google Cloud, AdSense and Analytics. Privacy policy.
- Cloudflare: domain name, network delivery and protection against attacks. Privacy policy.
- Paddle: payments for Premium, as merchant of record. Legal pages.
These providers may store or process data outside your country, including in the European Union and the United States. Where the law requires it, these transfers rely on safeguards such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
- Games of free accounts: 7 days, then deleted automatically.
- Games of Premium accounts: as long as the account exists.
- Your profile, progress and personal bests: until you delete your account.
- When you delete your account, your profile, games and personal bests are erased at once. Subscription records are kept without the link to your account, because tax law requires payment records to be kept.
- Server logs: a short period, for security and troubleshooting.
Your rights
You can access, correct, download or delete your data. Two of these you can do yourself on the account page: Download my data (a JSON file with everything linked to your account) and Delete account. For anything else, email hello@globequizz.com from your account's address.
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in Europe, or Qatar's Law No. 13 of 2016 on Personal Data Privacy Protection), you may also have the right to object to or restrict some processing, to withdraw consent at any time, and to complain to a data protection authority. We answer requests within one month.
Children
Accounts are for people aged 13 and over, and we ask you to confirm your age when you first sign in. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, tell us and we will delete it.
Security
Connections are encrypted (HTTPS), the database lets each player read only their own rows, and every score is checked on our server. No system is perfect, so please protect the email or Google account you sign in with.
